a music intelligence company that deals with media monitoring and big data analytics has released a State of the Nigerian Music Industry infographic for the period May-July 2014.
According to the infographic, Beat FM Lagos, Cool FM Port Harcourt and City FM Lagos played more songs than any other Nigerian radio
station, as Patoranking was the fastest rising star, while ‘Dorobucci’ maintained lead as the most played song.
The infographic also revealed that Seyi Shay was the highest played female artist, as Jesse Jagz’s God on the Mic pulled the biggest surprise as he silently remained the highest played artist in some parts of the country.
In terms of social media activity, Davido enjoyed more YouTube activity than any other artist within the period, as Don Jazzy saw more Twitter engagement while Wizkid’s Facebook likes spiked high.
All the information was extrapolated from over 3,400,210 data points both online and offline. Music activity of 14,905 Nigerian songs and 1500 Nigerian Artists were taken from 156 terrestrial radio and TV stations nationwide.
